About Rebecca

The perfect blend of business, technology, and design skills.

Currently working towards a Master of Science in Data Analytics, I hope to use my educated insights to make a difference in the world. Data tells stories and makes abstract concepts tangible, which is why it’s a vital aspect of any organization. For conservation groups, data can explain the impact of their work. In business sectors, data aids in decision making. In research communities, data provides insight into complicated problems. I look forward to using my new set of skills to improve the world we live in, one data set at a time.

My undergrad degree is in management information systems, which is both a business and technical degree — perfect for a person with looking to be a liaison between two functions. Through courses on business statistics, Java programming, SQL, and SAP S/4 Hana I learned much about the technology field that I wouldn’t have been able to learn as quickly on my own. I took additional classes in finite mathematics, C++, and technical writing to compliment some of my favorite aspects of the MIS degree plan. With lots of hard work I finished the degree Summa Cum Laude, with plenty of accolades from professors and group project team members.

These skills have been helpful in my personal life. I now use weighted scoring models to decide which activities to do when planning vacations. I create spreadsheets for cost comparisons and develop complex schedules (with relaxation time built in) to ensure that the "team" meets the trip's objectives. I design grocery lists based on the store layout and remind myself that chips are out of the "project scope."

I am interested in urban farming, animal welfare, nature conservancy, fantasy vacation planning, swimming, snorkeling, and play video games on several different systems in my free time.
